520 | _aExcellent basic introduction to Anatomy and Physiology. While there have been criticisms of the lighter nature of details of molecular level explanations, what this book does is a fantastic job of instruction. Organization of each chapter by systems, Chapter 6 for example, starts with some molecular details such as the myofibril, synaptic vesicle, excitation and contraction, moves on to important histology of striated, smooth, and cardiac muscle, then to the anatomy of muscles, function, and finally some muscular conditions and diseases as they relate to the prior concepts presented. Illustrations and color plates in the text and the lab manual are outstanding, and questions highlighted in red (placed throughout the text) are keyed to answers in an appendix, helping guide the reader to an understanding of the material. This text is interesting reading too ! | ||
